33:16.....well,Soviet KV-1s and 2s including the T-34s were clearly superior to their German counterparts during Op Barbarossa.There were even some instances of Soviet T-34s or KV-series tanks taking out multiple German panzers before being overwhelmed.

And good thing your ally isn't too dumb, lest this turn into an exploit heavy singleplayer level a la X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter or an impossible level a la Orcs Must Die! 2. Day 2 at 8:54. 12:14: Do I hear a Night Witch for air support? Day 3 at 16:57. Day 4 at 24:58. As an aside, perhaps you might wanna retry out CoH 3. Heard it actually has surprisingly good improvements away from launch in recent months, which are unfortunately left unreported due to the current stigma against it.

@@doommarine1667 thank you kindly. I have been meaning to for a long time, but finally got the motivation to power through it.
This will be the first of eighteen missions for the (Operation Barbarossa) Theater of War challenges. Some interesting choices were made to keep it more authentic for the time period, such as certain vehicles and weapons are not available for use on both sides. However, between inaccuracies and multiplayer patches throughout the years affecting gameplay... Relic kind of forgot to balance it out. Nonetheless, I will show you how it's done while I explain strategies and units as per all my strategy walkthroughs! The first mission is probably the most ambitious one of the bunch and almost feels like it was cut from the main campaign. You're simply tasked, along with a co-op partner (or AI if you're a loner), to hold three victory points for four in-game days. During the day you'll have time to setup defenses and recover any losses, while every night you can expect several waves of tanks and infantry will try to overwhelm you with increasing difficulty as time goes on. Instead of doctrines/companies in the original Company of Heroes where each faction can select one of three for special units and abilities, CoH 2 introduced commanders to give a lot more variety to use along with baseline units. Challenges that allow you to pick commanders have no restrictions on which ones you can select, however, keep in mind that certain units such as the Tiger tank or KV-2 will not be able to call in, thus wasting potential utilities you could be using. Due to how open this map is, long range engagements are ideal whenever possible so I prefer any commander with Guards Rifle Infantry. I decided to opt for "Soviet Combined Arms Army" which allows me to camouflage anti-tank guns, Guards Rifle Infantry, recon plane, ML-20 152mm artillery gun, and finally an IL-2 bombing run. The camo is great for bonus damage so long as no mortars are around since the AI cheats and will know where it is anyways. The elite Guards Rifle are one of the best long range infantry units and start with PTRS anti-tank rifles along with the option to upgrade for DP-28 lmgs. The recon plane can help give you an idea of what's through the fog of war, but won't last long if any scout cars are around. The ML-20 is a bit of a meme cannon but if units cluster or you want to bombard the enemy base from a safe distance then go for it. The bombing strike is great if you can get a cluster kill, but the AI in this game is smart enough to move out of the way so better hope it's worth the 200 munition risk. Right off the bat you will have all buildings pre-built and several units available to start with including a KV-1 heavy tank. I recommend to immediately send it and both T-70s to the victory point in the North asap since the AI will waste no time trying to capture it. You only have 800 points before defeat, which sounds like a lot, but will drain very quickly over the course of 30 minutes so better to have plenty of points in surplus should the later waves prove too much to hold onto all three VPs. Build a Maxim HMG to defend the West VP and you will only have to worry if any vehicles make it over there. The East VP I typically leave to the friendly AI to handle, but it is dumb enough to ignore it to the point you'll lose a good chunk of points before it figures out it has to be captured. The best strategy for map control I've found is to secure the North VP with several AT guns and the KV-1 (as your meat shield given how much damage it can shrug off). Then, use the T-70s as a light response force to deal with any infantry or light vehicles that slip past your flanks. During the first night, expect two half-tracks upgraded with flamethrowers to go behind your lines to cause havoc. They're incredibly effective against infantry so make sure to place mines on the main road and use those T-70s to hunt them down before they can do any major damage. After the first night is over, you will be given the option to call-in three types of reinforcements: light, medium, and heavy. The medium and heavy options offer bonus reinforcements should you hold off on calling them in right away whilst the light does not do feel free to call it in right away. Personally, I feel the mission is manageable without calling them in at all. However, I also enjoy big battles and the rare opportunity to do so since this is the only mission to let you go up to a 200 population cap. The choice is yours. On the second night, keep an ear out for a stuka siren and keep your units outside of the VPs. The Northern one will be hit first and it will decap the point, followed by the East, then West. The AI will send a half-track to the lower VPs, each one packed with two squads of Panzergrenadiers, while sending in their armor to the North. While the Panzergrenadiers aren't a major threat with their MP40s, they all will be equipped with a PTRS rifle which will do some nasty damage to your vehicles if you let them get their shots off. While the T-70s can take some punishment, don't forget that in the middle of the map is a repair station that can keep them in the fight without pulling away your engineers if theyre busy planting mines or repairing vehicles on the frontline. The third night you won't have to expect anything crazy compared to the rest, but do keep in mind the AI will bring in AT guns of their own. So don't count on your KV-1 tanks to hold the line without necessary support to back them up. If you need to increase your line of sight, and aren't using a commander with a recon plane, the sniper can launch a flare at vet. 1 and the 82mm mortar crew can from the get-go. Conscripts can also plant flare tripwires at Vet. 1, but that requires setup in advance. On the fourth and final day, near the end of the day there will be a creeping barrage that travels down the map and will obliterate anything caught in the blast. Luckily, the game does give you heads up for each one, but you have little time to respond so best to micro your units out of the way to the best of your ability. After the shelling is complete, expect one final wave of armor and support to come from all sides. If you've preserved your forces they should be at vet. 2 or 3 by now and should have no problem dealing with it, regardless if you use the reinforcements or not. After the timer runs out the mission is over and that that will be the first of eighteen challenges completed. Enjoy!

This level, I swear to god.... I had to look up walkthroughs and I still haven't found a god damn way up to the third floor (apart from that locked door which I don't have the skill to open). The walkthroughs I've looked at were useless. "Head up to the third floor" Yes yes, WHERE? So now I have to search through videos of this map and see how the hell others got to the third floor (hopefully not that door I cannot unlock). Gotta be another way. A game that stops you from progressing due to skill levels is not cool. I love this game but I can't wait to be finished with it. It can be incredibly annoying at times.

I was always hesitant to pick up Fallout 1 or 2 because people always talked about them like they are hardest, most obtuse video games ever and it always put me off of even trying to get into them. But this video has actually made me really want to try them out. Not saying the game isn't hard, but its definitely not the hammer-nails-into-your-dick simulator that people describe it as. It just looks like a genuinely fun and challenging video game. Appreciate the gameplay

A troopmower :0 This mission was so exhausting on normal mode. It feels exhausting just watching you battle the waves. I thought you would have had to use more mines and defenses than you did, and the fact you went so long without reinforcement tents was surprising. Impressive game again!
WOW, a sniper death squad :0 and a sand castle fortress against all those tanks :0 I'm surprised you didn't use mg nests, and I don't think you used artillery at all against that onslaught. that was impressive
@@tylerb3060 mgs nests wouldn't last long enough and took too much manpower when I needed it all for snipers. I normally would use the artillery, but it won't count towards the kill counter for the medal.
